Students need to fight and control the numerous distractions in their study environment if they are to study well. Parents, friends, mobile phones and the television all distract students from their studies and require careful time and people management to control such distractions.

Family members can create distractions for children unintentionally. A common source of such distractions is younger brothers and sisters who may want to play with their older siblings during their study hours. These thoughts bother them while they are studying and divert their attention away from what they are studying. They may be experiencing anger, fear, stress, or anxiety and these feelings may prevent them from achieving their daily study targets. For some students, studying during the day is more distracting than studying at night. Others find it less distracting to study at home than at the library.
